Do You Really Need To Do A Colon Cleanse?

Hollywood celebrities swear by it. Many alternative health professionals promote it. But does colon cleansing really work?

Truth is, there aren't that many evidence for or against it. People have lots of opinions about it and that's basically just that. Some medical professionals may argue that it doesn't do you much good while many other people, who have ACTUALLY experienced it and gone through it continue to do it again when needed because it has worked so much for them.

I never used to do anything like Colon cleanse. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I was much more active when I was younger, did a lot of exercise, ate very healthy at home and never really thought of losing weight or cleaning my system.

But these days, it's a completely different story. I've started to have hemorrhoids and I knew that it was my constipation problems that was causing it.

You don't necessarily need colon cleansing pills to clean your digestive system (although I find that the pills make the job a lot easier).

Here are some things you can do at home as part of a colon cleansing routine..

1) The most important thing that you need to do is have a diet high in fiber. If you follow this advice alone, you are very much on your way to cleansing your colon and having regular bowel movements. In fact, it is the best all-time great colon cleanser. However, remember that this does take time. Don't expect to start eating healthy today and then start to feel healthy tomorrow. It just doesn't work that way.

2) Refrain from consuming processed food - I cannot stress this highly enough. This is, I believe one of the big reasons why a lot of people nowadays have a lot of digestive-related problems (among many others). As Dr. Mehmet Oz says, if you're eating something that doesn't look like what it looks like as it comes from the ground, then it's not good for you.

3) Drink Plenty Of Water - I've heard some people say that you really don't need as much water as the experts say you do. And perhaps they're right. Your body does seem to easily adjust to the intake of water that you set for yourself.

However, I have noticed that when I drink at least a liter of water a day, I have more energy, and I don't feel sleepy at all. Plus, I don't get to have stools that are very difficult to pass either.

Drinking lots of water can help with decreasing constipation problems. In addition, if you're colon cleansing as a way to help you lose weight, water can act as a hunger suppresant. Studies have also shown that if you drink more water, fat deposits are reduced.

4) Take Probiotics - Probiotics are the live active culture found in yogurt. They greatly help in digestive health and boosts immune system.. This is essential in a good colon cleansing

You can effectively do these four things at home and get your colon cleansed. Truth is, if you have enough discipline, you can do away with colon cleansing pills and supplements.

However, many opt to go the colon cleansing pill route because it's a lot more convenient. As long as you make sure that the ingredients in the supplements that you use are natural and safe, then you're definitely doing yourself a big favor.
